1 Installation

1.1 Pre installation:
Make sure the modem is configured and installed correctly (read modemREADME
to see how to do it properly). There has to be a NIC present and installed.
The IP address should be 10.0.0.XXX with as subnetmask 255.255.255.0 and as
broadcast address 10.0.0.255. You can do this by typing:
     '/sbin/ifconfig ethX 10.0.0.XXX netmask 255.255.255.0 broadcast 10.0.0.255'
Be sure to replace "ethX" with your correct interface. If you have only one
NIC present ethX should be eth0. Also make sure 10.0.0.XXX is replaced with
your preferred LAN IP address, but it mustn't be 10.0.0.138 !!

If this is done you should be able to ping the modem. Do this by typing:
     'ping -c 3 10.0.0.138'

1.2 System requirements

  Minimal requirements:
  - Intel 386 compatible or higher with 8 MByte RAM.
  - Installed and correctly configured NIC.
  - Approximately 0,5 MByte hard drive space.
  - A working MXStream ( ADSL by KPN ) connection and an Alcatel Speedtouch
    Ethernet modem.
  - pppd v2.4.x should be installed.

1.3 Installing adsl4linux

Type emerge kpnadsl4linux. Everything is properly handled by the ebuild as
long as you provide the correct information when asked.

2 Using ADSL4Linux

2.1 'adsl start'

This should start your ADSL connection without any fuss.

2.2 'adsl stop'

Should you ever get tired of your ADSL connection, this is the correct way
  to stop it.

2.3 'adsl restart'

Bored? Try restarting the connection using this command. Does basically
the same as 'adsl stop && adsl start'.

2.4 'adsl status'

Greatly enhanced status screen. Displays all data transmitted in the
current session, day and month and some more.

2.5 'adsl startlog'

You probably didn't even notice that the logging had already started
the second you logged in. In case it didn't, this is the correct command
  to do it.

2.6 'adsl stoplog'

If you terminate your session this would normally be called in the
'ip-down.local' file. Check to see if it's there. If it's not, you've got
two options, either type 'adsl stoplog' manually or put it in the
'ip-down.local' file. If it is somthing is terribly wrong, you can always
  try reinstalling.

2.7 'adsl version'

  Displays your current ADSL4Linux version.
